Degree: MBChB (Bachelors) - Birmingham University
My name is Jonathan and I am a fourth year medical student studying at the University of Birmingham.
Studying the Sciences or Maths at GCSE or A level is more than just remembering information. A fundamental foundation based on questioning and observing our world puts everything into perspective. This is critical as allows the student to apply the subsequent knowledge, not only achieve exam success, but to learn the process of developing understanding. I have had the opportunity to convert my passion for science and discovery to the medical world, where the subject matter and the skills I learnt are vital.
Through tutoring I will guide students to think and question the subject matter, which is often challenging for those teaching larger classes. Together using this approach we will discover not just the solution but how and why we can use both the method and answer to deepen our understanding of the world.
I believe that as well as understanding and passion a tutor must have an ability to communicate complex ideas logically and progressively. This allows the student to connect and engage with the material so that learning is natural. My aim is that you can use the skills and the information we develop to teach others, just as my teacher taught me to…. (and excel in a few exams along the way!)
