About me

Hi! I'm a third year Computer Science student at the University of Warwick with a research interest in cyber security. I chose to do computer science because I enjoy solving problems logically and analytically - and I have a similar approach to tuition!

Hi! I'm a third year Computer Science student at the University of Warwick with a research interest in cyber security. I chose to do computer science because I enjoy solving problems logically and analytically - and I have a similar approach to tuition!

Alongside my work on this platform, I have additional experience teaching through volunteering with a local school to help teach A Level and GCSE Computer Science and through volunteering at my local code club to teach programming skills to children aged 9-13. I'm also interested in hackathons and game design - let me know if you are too!

It's my hope that my students not only learn the knowledge they need to ace their exams, but also to gain an appreciation for the complexity and beauty of the STEM subjects I love and teach. I look forward to working with you soon!

About my sessions

For my first session, I often find it helpful to have a sample of the student's work (e.g. a completed past paper, a detailed school report, etc.) so that the student and I can work out which areas of a subject need the most attention. However, I don't like to follow a rigid structure for all of my students after the first session - everybody learns differently and at different rates, so I prefer to manage lesson structures on a student by student basis.

I like to measure progress using past papers, done in either open or closed book environments. In accordance with this, I may set students 'homework' assignments of completing a past paper between sessions and then deconstruct the students' response during a session. However, I also think it's important to discuss subject areas with students to ensure that they truly understand a concept, not just how to get marks in an exam.

Empathy and honesty are integral to the learning process. I want my students to be comfortable enough to tell me when they don't understand a subject area - students should feel excited to ask questions, not ashamed. Additionally, if they do not think that my teaching style is compatible with them, I welcome their feedback and will work with them to find a more effective way of tutoring them.
