Alongside my work on this platform, I've taught A Level and GCSE Computer Science at a school and volunteered at my local code club to teach programming skills to children aged 9-13. Outside of tutoring, I climb, write my own software projects and learn new languages (I'm currently learning Esperanto!). I'm also interested in hackathons and game design - let me know if you are too!

It's my hope that my students not only learn the knowledge they need to ace their exams, but also to gain a fascination for the complexity and beauty of the STEM subjects I love and teach. I look forward to working with you soon!

About my sessions

I treat all of my students as unique individuals with different learning styles, so the way that I plan and deliver my lessons is different for each one. Some students prefer to be exam and question focused, whereas others prefer a more traditional lesson style format; however you like to learn, I'm always happy to change up my teaching style to support you.

I treat all of my students as unique individuals with different learning styles, so the way that I plan and deliver my lessons is different for each one. Some students prefer to be exam and question focused, whereas others prefer a more traditional lesson style format; however you like to learn, I'm always happy to change up my teaching style to support you.

Whilst I primarily provide online lessons, I also offer Written Work Reviews (WWRs) of exam papers to help students looking to further improve their work. By providing extensive, detailed feedback on a student's exam responses which many teachers don't have time to provide, students taking WWRs with me often see huge improvements in not just their exam performance but their exam confidence too.

Empathy and honesty are integral to the learning process. I want my students to be comfortable enough to tell me when they don't understand a subject area - students should feel excited to ask questions, not ashamed. A dialogue is always open with my students to make sure that, if things aren't working between us, we can change our tutoring style to make things right as soon as possible.

When it comes to getting tutoring for computer science, I would take nobody else. Alistair is very great at explaining and taking time going things thoroughly if it is needed. No matter what, he doesn't mind going through the material as many times as needed. Also he caters to many types of needs and will adapt the lesson to his student's learning style. Very pleased with his services and would definitely keep using him.
