About me

Who am I?

I am currently a final year undergraduate studying French, Spanish, and Portuguese at the University of Cambridge. I grew up bilingual, and have always been fascinated by the process of language learning. Languages open up new worlds, and I would love to share the passion that has driven my studies with you!

I grew up bilingual, and have always been fascinated by the process of language learning. Languages open up new worlds, and I would love to share the passion that has driven my studies with you!

My interest in education stems from my own, somewhat unconventional experience: I spent years 9 - 11 studying at home, self-teaching my GCSEs. Just before that, I had lived in Italy, where I learnt Italian entirely through immersion as I could not speak a word of the language before I moved there! Since then, I have always pursued teaching and mentoring opportunities as I am well aware of the disorientation students can experience during their studies. I spent my third academic year teaching English in Paris, alongside having worked on the MyTutor Schools Programme to offer tuition to disadvantaged students.

About my sessions

What will we cover in tutorials?

Language learning is an individual process, even if just to pass an exam, so I encourage the tutee to guide the structure of the lessons. I endeavour to find the best approach for you, regardless of what you’re struggling with (e.g. grammar, vocabulary, or writing). I have access to a wealth of resources that I myself used, and can provide you with to further develop your skills. Lessons are engaging through my personable approach and I...

I’m considering Oxbridge.. can you help?!

Yes! I can completely appreciate how overwhelming it can be. I hope that my advice and tips can help you make a successful application, whichever stage you may be at. I am happy to organise mock interviews and to support you in writing a Personal Statement.

I'd like some career advice, but have no idea where to start..?

In most cases, what you study doesn't define your career but that doesn't mean laying out some future steps and aspirations isn't helpful. The landscape for recruitment is now changing very fast and as someone who has worked in education, finance, and consulting - I have a wide range of experiences which I can share with you to help you orientate yourself.

Zarah is very patient and nice and she breaks spanish down and tries to make it simple and easy for me to understand. She is flexible and is able to answer any question I ask her and helps me with whatever I need to learn. She is very motivating and I recommend her.

My son is studying for GCSEs and enjoys his lessons with Zahra. The system is easy to use. He feels that he is progressing well in Spanish at school from strengthening certain areas. He feels that Zahra pushes him to work hard and progress, which is great. I have no hesitation in recommending her and we are lucky to have found her!
