About me

When I was at school I found it really tough to work out what I wanted to specialise in at university, mainly because I enjoyed both the sciences and humanities. I was able to recognise my passion for law because it marries those two areas incredibly well; at times you need the logic and rigour of maths, whilst at others you need to use that logic to craft an argument and debate.

As a result I'm in a unique position when it comes to tutoring; not only am I invested in helping you understand the content required for an examination, I'm also able to help you refine that knowledge so it can be used for other purposes in the future. I believe that getting your studies to the point where you too can go on to help others is one of the most effective ways of learning.

About my sessions

I like to run sessions which focus on areas you are having difficulty with and encourage you to participate in both learning and teaching the content. I'll ask you to send me a list of things you would like to go through in advance of the session, and then work out the best way to guide you through the topic based on what kind of learner you are (for example, some people use visual methods such as mind maps to revise). At the end of each session I'll give you some past-paper questions...

At the end of each session I'll give you some past-paper questions on the topic we have just looked at and see how well you've understood what we've just been through.

However, whilst its important to know what the examiners are putting on the mark scheme, I think that becomes much easier when you have a great grasp of the content itself. That's why I'll ask you at the beginning of each session to explain a concept we did in the last lesson back to me, as if you were the tutor. That gives you the chance to really show-off your knowledge and impress, as you will have to do in an exam in short written answers and essays.

My main goal is to make sure you're having fun with your learning and seeing results in your independent work!
