About me

Hi, I'm a recent BA Geography graduate from Durham University. I'm friendly, approachable and don't believe in silly questions. I genuinely want every student to be able to achieve their highest potential, whether that be through using alternative explanations to help them understand something they are struggling with, or simply improving self-confidence in their own abilities.

I genuinely want every student to be able to achieve their highest potential, whether that be through using alternative explanations to help them understand something they are struggling with, or simply improving self-confidence in their own abilities.

I offer tutoring in both Spanish and Geography. I loved geography at school, finding the real-life application of the subject through case studies fascinating, which is why I decided to study it at university. Whilst Spanish is something that I studied at school and continued at university, alongside my geography studies. I have just returned from six months travelling around South America speaking Spanish every day, and as such I see it not only as a subject but a fun hobby and an important life skill.

At school, I studied for my GCSEs, and then decided to study IB during sixth form. I applied to five universities and was lucky enough to receive an offer from my first choice, Durham.

Whilst at Durham I enjoyed being part of the UOTC, an Army Reserves unit for university students. I was also the Captain of the University Rifle Club and enjoyed playing squash in my spare time.

About my sessions

As part of the free consultation I will always ask the student what they want out to gain from tutoring, as I like to tailor the style of the sessions based on getting a feel for what the student wants.

Early on, I would establish a list of goals with a student and then outline a flexible plan of how I would help them to achieve them. My number one priority is to tailor the sessions to the student. Whether that be going through past paper questions, explaining certain topic areas, or simply putting into practice content that the student has previously learnt.

When I was studying for my exams, I found that one of the most useful techniques to test knowledge is to explain it to another person. During the sessions, I would ask students to relay back to me what they have been learning, to establish different their areas of strength and weakness.

At the end of each session, I would encourage the student to go over the material that was covered, to help the content sink in whilst also giving the student the opportunity to think of any questions that they might have for next time.
