About me

As a state school student who made it to Oxford University, I am committed to the idea that every student should be helped to achieve their best.

I work for the NGO, Right for Education, to ensure that this happens around the world, but I am also committed to the home-cause and have tutored numerous students in French and English in my local school. Seeing student progression is massively rewarding.

I work for the NGO, Right for Education, to ensure that this happens around the world, but I am also committed to the home-cause and have tutored numerous students in French and English in my local school. Seeing student progression is massively rewarding.

I currently study English Language and Literature at undergraduate level. Having achieved an A* in English GCSE, and a 7 (/7) in IB Higher English Literature, I feel ready prepared to coach many more students through the process.

I am also happy to help with university applications and the ELAT entry-test for English.

About my sessions

In my experience, preparation, practise, and building confidence are essential to exam success.

In my experience, preparation, practise, and building confidence are essential to exam success.

First and foremost, I will take care to ensure that students are well acquainted with the structure of their course, their set texts, papers, and mark schemes - knowing exactly for what you gain marks is often overlooked, but it is very important in order to signal to the examiner that you know what you are doing.

I will encourage active brain-storming sessions and the planning of outline essays. Actively thinking about texts and approaches to answering questions makes the process more predictable and revision more enjoyable. Through the facilitation of discussion, students and tutors reach individual lesson outcomes and students can explore their own interests.

I am happy to mark and go through practise work, as well as to provide example essays which we can critique together during lessons; identifying strengths and weaknesses in others' work is a useful skill.

I will always leave time for students to pose their own questions, to raise queries, and to express their own preferences for lesson structures. What works for one student will not always work for another and I want to provide a tailored service that is enjoyable and productive for all involved.
