About me

I'm a Maths student at the University of Edinburgh. I chose to study maths because of the feeling when a problem clicks and I understand the underlying knowledge. I love to share what I know and help others achieve their best. I am lucky to have first taught myself the Maths GCSE and the AS level and then also tutored others at the GCSE level.

I'm looking forward to helping you achieve your best!

About my sessions

To start I think it is important to get to know each other and the areas in which I can best help you improve. To do this I normally start by discussing any areas of interest and the level you are currently working at and then working through some questions with you to see how you work.

I believe it is important to have a clear focus for each session which both helps demonstrate progress and creates manageable chunks of content. In a normal session I would discuss any problems or areas of interest that have come up over the week and then move onto explaining the foundational content of the topic we are focusing. After that I would normally work through some examples together and then provide feedback as you do some yourself.

Progress is important to see and I think it is best seen in the progression of a deep understanding of the subject. Of course, in preparation for upcoming exams it is also important practice exam skills and evaluate progress through past papers.
