About me

I'm George, a third-year Mechanical Engineering Masters student at the University of Warwick. I'm George, a third-year Mechanical Engineering Masters student at the University of Warwick. I've always been passionate about engineering and the subjects that it incorporates - it is based on creativity, problem solving and offers the opportunity to shape the world that we and our children will live in. The core of Maths and Physics, along with Chemistry help us understand the world around us and studying them develops transferable skills that go way beyond engineering itself. This is why engineering students are so sought after in other fields such as consultancy and finance!

I have the academic credentials to allow me to help you with difficult topics - 7A*s at GCSE and a predicted first-class degree, however I believe it is my own experience of tutoring that means I can help you truly fly.

I've always worked for my academic success, and as such attended tutoring sessions at school and regularly ask my lecturers for advice. I therefore know first-hand what makes a good tutor through my own successes. Studying engineering has taught me that problems can’t be solved by fixing symptoms – learning to answer specific exam questions will never truly work. To be prepared for whatever might crop up in life or exams, understanding the fundamental ideas behind what it is you find difficult is the only way to properly develop your grasp of it. Mixing this approach with a supportive, friendly and encouraging attitude is what sets my tutoring apart.

About my sessions

To prepare for online lessons, I would find a selection of past paper questions relevant to what you would like help with to be completed with me towards the end of the session. These will range from the easiest examples to build understanding, to more likely and difficult questions with a "worst case scenario" for the very end. This will should be a challenge to both of us, that we can work through together to end the lesson.

I also tailor my teaching style and lesson approach...

I also tailor my teaching style and lesson approach before each session, by recapping the topic myself, and tutoring you the way in which suits it best - be it memory exercises, case studies or problems!

The learning space will be used to create a revision page that you are free to save and refer to outside of lessons, and this will take up the first half of the lesson, if requested. As Ihave entioned before, engineering experience has taught me that to excel in STEM subjects the basics must be tackled before moving to the problems, and I will do this. I am also open to questions aabout university, application processes, CVs, or anything I can help with.

I look forward to working with you!
