Hi! I'm a third year university student, studying history at the University of Cambridge. History is amazing because you can do so much with it - while at uni, I've studied a huge range of topics from medieval Britain to the Cold War, and from the late Roman empire to early modern Eurasia! I love being able to explore the past from a wide range of perspectives and studying history really challenges you to think critically about the world.

At university, a large amount of my teaching has been 1-on-1, so I have a good idea of what has helped me learn and what hasn't. I also have experience of mentoring - working as a mentor for a student with a Cambridge offer as well as on several summer schools working with disadvantaged year 12 students - and of tutoring key stage 2 students while on my gap year. This has given me a good sense of how I can help students and I'm excited to put these skills to use as a tutor!
I am flexible in my approach to teaching, so I can work with you to find the best way to help you improve. I'm excited to share my love of history and help you to achieve your goals!
My sessions will focus mainly on essay and argument skills - but this can encompass structure, source analysis, use of evidence, as well as more general discussion. I am also happy to help with revision.

I aim to take a flexible approach to tutoring, working with you to find the best way to structure lessons and give you support. This will generally be an approach with some combination of 1-on-1 discussion as well as essay feedback and marking, but every student is different with different strengths and weaknesses so we can focus on what you'd like to improve.
There are no right answers in history, but I can help you learn to think critically about a question and make your arguments nuanced and convincing through your use of evidence and concepts.
For A Level, I can also help more specifically with using (or even finding) historiography, which really strengthens your answers, as well as source work, as these are both things which I use a lot throughout my degree.
That said, my main emphasis is on adaptability and finding an approach that works for you!
