Hi, my name is Imran and I am a 1st year currently studying Engineering at Oxford University. I have been a very high achiever throughout school and sixth form and I hope to pass on that knowledge to the next generation of students. Coming from a local state school, I have experienced some of the difficulties that come with teaching yourself beyond the syllabus or even asking the teacher for that extra bit of time to go over certain key topics one more time.
I believe that the best way to learn is really a good dialogue between teacher and student about a topic and then getting stuck in with applications. I feel that the key skill a lot of students lack, at least initially is the knack of being able to spend the least amount of time possible on the raw theory and then getting stuck into real life questions to fully solidify your understanding. I will try my best to first ensure that the student fully understands the topic to cut down on unnecessary memorization of facts and really get down to the core of Maths and Physics.
My experience in teaching has been varied. I have taught as a Maths tutor at a weekend school for poor Afghan students as well as being part of Schools Plus in Oxford. These experiences have had fully vetted selection processes so there is no need to fear for the quality of my teaching.
I am also available for Oxbridge mentoring as well as for the PAT test practise. I understand the anxiety that comes when choosing the right college or even the specific course in Oxbridge. Also I achieved in the top 30% in my PAT test whilst applying to Oxford.
Finally, as you can see I love tutoring and I am easily available for students to contact at any time with questions in advance of the sessions or even just to have a general chat about their studies.
