About me

Hey! I am a final year Geography student at the University of Edinburgh with a passion for combining geography and maths - the greatest subjects on Earth! I am currently involved in a number of projects such as a peer-assisted learning scheme for first-year Geography students at my university and running workshops for 15-16-year-olds on the use of statistics and technology in geographical research.

About my sessions

I am available to tutor Geography, Mathematics, and Statistics. How will the sessions be run? This is totally up to you, after all, it is adapting to the way you learn that makes tutoring more successful. The general layout is: - For Maths (and Statistics) I believe practice makes perfect, so after going through the key concepts I believe running through example problems and finding some particularly difficult examples will test understanding and expand your experience with these problem sets, making the exam a piece of cake! - For Geography, I ask you to inform me in advance of the tutorial what topic you would like to go over. I create a presentation with tasks for us to go through in the session - fun intro game, diagrams and interactive sections for understanding concepts, and ultimately going through past paper questions. Can you help with UCAS applications? I can indeed! I have been through the horrific application process myself and since then my assistance has been hired to both proofread other students' personal statements as well as working with them in the initial stages to get their ideas down and offer advice.

Had a good session about the carbon cycle. It was clear and easy to understand with the diagrams.

Questions Rebecca has answered

Describe the four main types of river erosion? [4]

The four main types of river erosion are abrasion, attrition, hydraulic action and solution. Abrasion is the process of sediments wearing down the bedrock and the banks. Attrition is the collision between sediment particles that break into smaller and more rounded pebbles. Hydraulic action is the force of water against the banks compressing air pockets into cracks, which expand and fracture the rock over time. Solution is the process of acidic water dissolving soluble sediment.
