Having spent a lot of time in France, I know how important languages are for building relationships and the best methods to learn them! I did Maths at A Level and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the methodological aspect. I love Geography due to its scope and global importance, helping put plans in place regarding huge issues such as climate change. I've done plenty of teaching and tutoring in the past and am used to working with children of all ages, so I am very familiar with good methods of teaching, keeping it fun and interesting, as well as memorable and effective! The best improvements are when a student enjoys the subject, so I strive to share my subjects' love along with knowledge, which prompts the students to spent more time doing tasks I set, and building a better foundation for their knowledge.

Whilst revising, I find solid structure was the most useful thing, as the extra organisation allows me to use my time effectively and to stay healthy. Tutoring is a great way to set a block of time aside for a certain subject. I'm a keen dancer and enjoy taking part in lessons as part of the dance society at Bristol. Dance also helped me with time management as it was a huge part of my timetable during revision time, and meant I had been used to managing my time strictly since a young age.

About my sessions

My tutoring lessons are completely focused on the student and therefore have no set structure that I categorically stick to, as I adapt each with according to the pace and needs of the student. My tutoring lessons are completely focused on the student and therefore have no set structure that I categorically stick to, as I adapt each with according to the pace and needs of the student. I like to start off each lesson with a small quiz to refresh previous content covered, especially for French and Maths as there are many key points which are used to build everything one learns. Worked examples and practices are also very useful, as they encourage self-learning and also allow me to evaluate the needs of the student in regards to each topic.

Progress can be measured from quizzes and questions asked, allowing me to learn what elements need to be focused on in subsequent lessons. Tasks completed in and out of my lessons are also key indicators of progress. I find the best way to encourage learning is to provide an understanding of the subject, prevent feelings of bewilderment and allowing a student to fully immerse themselves in. Maths is a good subject to learn via tutoring as it requires plenty of guided practice, which I help run through. French vocabulary terms and grammar are the most key parts of learning the language as they provide the base for the rest of the language. It also helps a more general understanding of conversations and time spent in France.
