About me

I am a recent Durham University graduate, with a 2:1 in Natural Sciences (Mathematics and Physics). I have a wide base of undergraduate maths (both pure and applied) from my first two years of my degree, with my final year leaning more to the applied side. I have a very solid grounding in advanced calculus, linear algebra and analysis. I have a patient and fun-loving personality and I love helping people understand difficult concepts, because I know what it's like when you just don't...

I have a wide base of undergraduate maths (both pure and applied) from my first two years of my degree, with my final year leaning more to the applied side. I have a very solid grounding in advanced calculus, linear algebra and analysis. I have a patient and fun-loving personality and I love helping people understand difficult concepts, because I know what it's like when you just don't understand something and the great feeling you get when it finally clicks. I received A*AAB in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry respectively in my A-levels, and so have a solid foundation on which to build on and help students. When I was in sixth form, I helped younger students with their work in after school sessions. Throughout my A-levels and degree, I have always enjoyed working with my friends to tackle questions they don't understand, because sometimes students have a way of explaining concepts in a different way to teachers that is easier to understand.

About my sessions

Learning maths isn't just about being able to answer the questions put in front of you, but having a really solid understanding of the processes involved. My aim as a tutor is to make sure I explain the concepts you are unsure about thoroughly, and break them down into manageable pieces, so the original problem doesn't seem quite so daunting. Learning how to dismantle a problem and persevere through the steps is an extremely valuable skill to learn as a mathematician and will help you...

My aim as a tutor is to make sure I explain the concepts you are unsure about thoroughly, and break them down into manageable pieces, so the original problem doesn't seem quite so daunting. Learning how to dismantle a problem and persevere through the steps is an extremely valuable skill to learn as a mathematician and will help you throughout your A-levels and beyond to university level. I want my students to leave my sessions feeling confident they can achieve the best grades they are capable of.
