Hello, my name's Grace! I have two English degrees: a First-Class honours degree in English Literature from the University of Durham, and a distinction grade master's degree from the University of Cambridge. I have just completed five weeks of intensive teacher training for the Teach First grad scheme, so for the next two years I will be an English teacher in a school in London, as well as a student at the UCL Institute of Education - the best education faculty in the world - where I will be getting my PGDE. I am very well qualified for English, but also pretty well-versed in History if this is where your interest lies.  I have been paid to edit dissertations, job applications, brochures, and more, so if you need me to proof-read an essay or personal statement, helping with things like grammar, structure, and style, then I would be more than happy to. I look forward to meeting and working with you!

About my sessions

Sessions will be tailored to each student, I would hope to get to know your learning style and your individual goals, as I don't believe tutoring is a one-size-fits-all process. I personally think interactive exercises, games, and the use of different resources makes for a good tutoring session, and is far more effective than me lecturing at you; it takes two to tutor! In terms of measuring progress I think that the best barometer for the learning process is the student's confidence:...

In terms of measuring progress I think that the best barometer for the learning process is the student's confidence: how prepared they feel for the exam, how much faith they have in their essay, and so on. If their aim is straight A*s then by all means I'm willing to push and challenge them as much as possible, but learning is also about so much more than numbers/letters on paper for me, as I'm sure it is for many students.
