Hello, my name is Vicki. I am a trained teacher with a PGCE in English and a BA degree in English Language and Linguistics. I have spent the last year training to be a teacher and as a result I have up to date resources and understanding of KS3 and KS4 school work and exam specifications. I have a huge passion for my subject and have spent many years improving my subject knowledge in order to make me the best possible teacher and tutor. I wanted to become a tutor as I find working with students on a one-to-one basis hugely rewarding and love watching my students grow in confidence and capability. I believe I am brilliant in finding what students need in additional help and support with within my subject and use a wide range of teaching approaches in order to maximise student learning. I have previous experience of working with students from a range of backgrounds and wish to help students on their educational journey to help them achieve their goals.

About my sessions

On starting our tutoring experience together, I will first ask you what you want to get out of the session e.g. areas you want to focus on and your learning style. I will also discuss with you what you are brilliant at and look at how we can weave your strengths into areas you are not so confident in. I will also ask you to carry out a short assessment based on the area you want to focus on in order for me to gauge the level you are working at. This piece of work and any other subsequent long...

This piece of work and any other subsequent longer pieces of written work will be kept by me in order to measure your progress. After we have established your focuses, I will create a long term plan in which I can help you to achieve your goals. In addition to this, I also try as much as possible to incorporate your interests into our time together. For example, if you really like sport and we are looking at speech writing, I will find speeches that centre around this topic After mapping out a long term plan, I create medium term plans and individual lessons based on your needs in order to reach your targets. If at any point something arises that you need help with which I have not planned for, not to worry! I will adapt the plan I have made to make sure you get all the help and support you need. I already have a wide range of resources such as textbooks at my disposal and a bank of resources I have made throughout my year of teacher training as well as the bespoke resources I will provide for your success.
