About me

Hi, I'm Ellie and I'm currently in my 2nd year at university studying Medicine. I chose to study this course because, first of all, science excites me; it's always full of new discoveries and developments. Secondly, I love seeing the smile on people's faces when I've helped them through something difficult.

I chose to study this course because, first of all, science excites me; it's always full of new discoveries and developments. Studying Biology, Chemistry, and Maths at A-Level was a challenge for me; I spent many evenings trying to understand different concepts and always wished I had someone to sit next to me, even if it were just for encouragement. Being able to become a tutor means that I can act as a person who can bring enthusiasm to the subject as well as a helping-hand.

During my exams, I also had to go through the process of applying to Med School, something that has a reputation for being heavily demanding. However, I got the results I needed and am now part of Medic's tennis and the university football team, and still have time to work hard!

With my experience of GCSEs, A-Levels, and the university application process, I am excited to pass on my knowledge to fellow students and give them the opportunity to succeed and enjoy learning.

About my sessions

When I was at school, I found that the best way of learning was to fully understand what and why things are what they are. I like to have a clear idea of what I needed to know and how best to approach questions in exams. Visualising ideas is an important part of the learning process and will be used a lot during the sessions.

When I was at school, I found that the best way of learning was to fully understand what and why things are what they are. I like to have a clear idea of what I needed to know and how best to approach questions in exams. Visualising ideas is an important part of the learning process and will be used a lot during the sessions.

Following a previous lesson, I will have asked the tutee what they want to cover for the following week. From that, I will plan a short overview, including some past exam questions, simple and more difficult examples, and some ready-made diagrams if necessary.

During the lesson, the student and myself will both decide an objective together that we can achieve during the session. Together, we’ll go through some examples and explanations, and then look at a few questions at the end. I aim to let the student decide how best they learn so that I can adapt my learning style to them in order to get the most out of the lesson.

Ultimately, I hope that my students will become more confident and inquisitive about the subjects they’re studying.
