About me

I'm currently in my second year at the University of St Andrews studying a joint degree in Environmental Earth Science and Biology. This means that I continue to study all of the science disciplines but in an applied manner which I find fascinating, applying all that I have learnt since GCSE level to Earth processes. I am particularly interested in ocean and climate dynamics and hope that in the future I will go into climate change research. I achieved A*/A grades in all of my GCS...

I am particularly interested in ocean and climate dynamics and hope that in the future I will go into climate change research. I achieved A*/A grades in all of my GCSE's and A levels which were attained through hard work and organisation as well as my love of the subjects I took.

I plan to use a variety of methods in my online lessons in order to find what way of learning works best for the pupil. Personally I like to use a mixture of mind maps, concise well structured notes and plenty of highlighters worked well for me to initially learn and consolidate the knowledge before going through past paper questions to work on exam technique as well as applying what you've learnt to the question being asked. I plan to work through the syllabus topic by topic with extra attention on the areas the student feels they struggle the most with.

My tutor sessions will typically be structured as follows:

-Refresher of the previous session with warm up questions

-Discussion of what the pupil is finding challenging in the course material

-Consolidation of knowledge and practice exam questions

-A recap and summary of learning to be taken from the lesson

-Planning and preparation for the next session

Although this would be my typical structure, I am aware that each student has a different way of learning. I am flexible in my approach to sessions to ensure that best fit the individual for the best results possible.

I aim to set goals that are challenging but reasonable because I think it is very important to take in information 'little and often' to avoid over-facing the student.
