About me

Hello! I'm an intercalating 4th year medical student currently taking a year out to do a Masters in Education and Anatomy.

I grew up living with a big family and loved taking care my great grandparents, so knew I wanted to go into a career of care. At school, Biology and Maths were (and still are) my favourite subjects- since Medicine combines both a care and Biology, it’s been the perfect degree for me.

I’ve taught Maths and Dance throughout school and I love seeing students progress and gain confidence. It's been so rewarding that I’ve taken a year out to get a Masters in Education with the aim to balance a career as a doctor and university teacher. In my modules this year, I’m learning about the most effective teaching methods and I’ll be assessed teaching other students, so as I learn and improve over the year, I hope you’ll see my tutoring sessions improve as well!

From experience, I know it’s really helpful to understand a topic rather than memorise it, and so I’ll put a lot of focus on this by not just showing you what to do, but by showing you why we do it. I’ve been lucky to have family members who were teachers growing up and I know how much more confident you feel when you have somebody to sit with who encourages and explains things to you a suitable pace. That's exactly what I aim to do for my students.

About my sessions

If you want to go through the basics, we'll go through the basics. If you want to challenge yourself, I'll challenge and support you!

I want to not only help you improve your knowledge, but encourage you so that you view learning positively. I’m approachable and happy to listen, and I hope you feel comfortable discussing your thoughts with me so we can work at the speed and level you need.

Although I’ve created a rough structure below, I’m flexible and we don’t have to stick to this- I’ll adapt sessions to what suits you best.

1) Beforehand, I’ll contact you to ask what you’d like to go through so I can create a plan. If you’re not sure yet, we can work as we go.

2) Whether you want to bring your own work to go through or you’d like me to plan a session on a topic, we’ll work together interactively on the online lesson space. I'll use diagrams, videos, exam questions, create revision sheets- whatever is most helpful for you.

3) For the final 5 minutes, we can do a quick summary and I’ll cover any uncertainties. If you’d like to spend more time on what we’ve covered, we’ll make sure to do so in the next session.

4) I’ll direct you to some websites and questions sheets that will be handy when working on your own.

I look forward to meeting you!
