About me

Hello hello! My name is Alex Tapper and I'm a 20 year-old Joint Honours Student at the University of Warwick. I'm currently in the third and final year of my Bachelor's Degree in Film and Literature. I am half-Spanish and half-English, and have lived in Spain for 14 years, meaning that I am totally fluent in both languages as well as a natural linguist (French was a language I learnt and understood very quickly! I am half-Spanish and half-English, and have lived in Spain for 14 years, meaning that I am totally fluent in both languages as well as a natural linguist (French was a language I learnt and understood very quickly! I've always been quite a bookworm and loved words, so languages and literatures were my favourite and best classes in school. My determined and hard-working nature keep me going and ensure that I always do the best I can. My love of Media and Film are rooted in my love for cinema and social media, two more technological 'languages' that are on the rise and more powerful than ever. Aside from studying both Film and Literature at university, I work at the Student Newspaper as the Head of Social Media, which requires great understanding of the digital world and the complexities of the media.

I'm a chatty, bubbly and very friendly individual, so hopefully any students will feel happy and comfortable in my lessons to approach me with any questions! GCSEs and A Levels are daunting exams and a stressful time in life which can take a toll on one's mental health, so I hope to make all and any students feel relaxed and in control of their studies!

About my sessions

Prior to all lessons, I will message my student and ask what their main queries or problematic topics may be, allowing me to have some time to prepare any helpful exercises, information and explanations to aid their understanding completely during the actual lesson. The structure will be determined by and tailored specifically to the student's needs, making sure we tackle their personal academic struggles as opposed to going over material they may already understand.

Dependent on the subject, I will give the students Case Studies, vocabulary tests or pop quizzes on topics we've recently covered to make sure they have truly grasped the content and that they are progressing in their respective subjects. I will also encourage them to do some light homework, consisting of revising whatever school material they have learnt on a daily basis, and making notes during every lesson I teach so they have something to go back to if they need any reminder during class of when doing homework.

Discipline is an essential skill, as it may not be the smartest student who gets the highest grade, but the one who works the hardest! As is always said, the tortoise wins the race, and with my help I hope to encourage my students to work hard everyday, at least a little bit, to keep them on track and make sure they achieve their goals!
