About me

I have been tutoring younger students for four years now. I have also taught voluntarily at a physics summer camp and have mentored a physics project in a summer research school. I think that studying mathematics and physics is an amazing experience as long as you let them show their real appeal and stop accepting them just as school subjects. I have always had a passion for science and I think that what makes me really good at it is the fact that I have never let grades take away the enjoyment of doing it.

About my sessions

I understand that each student has a different way of comprehending new material and a different pace of studying. That's why each time I start tutoring a new student, I discuss with them what suits them best. Typically I start with some theory revision and then move on to various examples that best illustrate the material being studied. By watching how the student copes with the examples, I can see which areas are well understood and which need more emphasis. I think that encouraging learning comprises of the support of family and friends, as well as enjoying the subject and not stressing too much over exams.

Ana has always been really nice, helpful and supportive. Her explanations were clear and she was really careful to make sure that I had understood. She was always punctual and flexible. I strongly recommend her to anybody who struggles with maths and physics or needs a tutor for a specific exam as Ana helped me for the PAT.

Craig Parent from Worcester Lesson review 21 May '18, 19:00

21 May, 2018

I am a very slow learner in class and sometimes it takes me a long time to grasp certain topics. However Ana is very good at braking things down, being patient and helping me get my head around things far quicker than i could on my own!

Questions Ana has answered

Why doesn't the magnetic force change the velocity of a particle?

Well actually, it does. Remember that the velocity is a vector and so is the force. Since F=ma, the acceleration due to a given force points in the same direction as the force itself. The magnetic force is perpendicular to the direction of motion, and hence so will the acceleration. And we know that when the acceleration is perpendicular to the velocity of a particle, it undergoes uniform circular motion. So, the magnitude of the velocity remains unchanged when the particle is acted upon solely by a magnetic force. Yet, as we just said, the velocity is a vector and hence it is defined by both is magnitude and direction. Since the direction changes, the velocity vector also does change. We call such an acceleration (which is always perpendicular to the velocity) normal or centripetal, as it makes the particle circle around a certain point.Well actually, it does.
