About me

Hi I'm Charlotte,

I love languages mainly because I love travelling. Languages allow you to communicate with people... particularly when you're travelling and you can avoid the awkward 'lost look' when you ask people for directions!

I also appreciate how frustrating learning languages can be- it takes a lot of time and practice but most importantly it takes patience and confidence!

One of the hardest parts of languages is the speaking... not because it's difficult, but because you don't want to sound stupid! So as part of my lessons, I will try to include a maximum amount of speaking practice- so that before you know it, you can have an easy conversation without the heart palpitations!

I am a CertTesol qualified teacher of English as a foreign language and have experience teaching children, teenagers and adults.

The general outline or course content I will leave open to the student as to focus on particular areas of weakness. This I suggest should also be discussed with their class teacher so as to identify any areas of the classroom course which the student may struggle with, so that tutoring sessions support the work done in the classroom.

Speaking practice will be integrated throughout the session as a means of improving pronunciation but most importantly to build the students confidence in speaking and listening.

I think motivation and enthusiasm is key to encouraging learning and progress and thus I endeavour to use as many current and interesting resources to support the lesson content. (songs, videos, articles, blogs and vlogs etc.)

As a means of measuring progress, regular testing of studied content will give an indication of whether the student has grasped the concept of the lesson (grammar) and regular speaking, listening and reading comprehension exercises will demonstrate acquisition of new vocabulary.

A short test at the beginning and end of the course will highlight areas to be worked on and show progress.
