About me

Hi, I’m Helen and I’m a law graduate from Durham University and a first year medical student at Queen’s University, Belfast.

My Academics: I obtained 8 A*s and 3 As at GCSE followed by 1 A* and 3 As at A-level. I came third in Northern Ireland in GCSE business studies, 1st in my year in business studies, 1st in my year in Spanish GCSE and 2nd in my year in English Language.

I obtained a 2:1 (67%) in my law degree and I also had the opportunity to continue my interest in business by undertaking two business modules.

Following my law degree I spent one year studying A-level chemistry and AS level biology achieving grades A* (94%) and A (89%) respectively.

Having been tutored myself since a young age I know how important it is to keep students engaged and interested. I have been tutoring for the past four years at both GCSE and A-level and I use a variety of revision techniques tailored to each student’s needs. I put a lot of preparation into each tutorial therefore you can expect a high quality lesson from me. I am enthusiastic, and I strive to make learning enjoyable!

I understand the significance of exam technique and how this can affect your grade and therefore I have a lot of advice to give on this for each subject.

About my sessions

A-levels/GCSE: I focus on exam technique and knowledge ensuring students feel prepared and confident for their upcoming exams.

Medical Preparation: A competitive UKCAT score and engaging personal statement are key to attracting an offer. I have a wide range of resources from doctors, medical students and university interviews to help you with this.

Personal Statement/LNAT: Getting into a top university for law or business is becoming increasingly more important and I can help you with this. Personal Statements are vital in order to attract an offer from the top universities. A recent success story includes one of my students gaining a place at Oxford to study law after help with his personal statement and LNAT exam.

I am very flexible with my time and I will strive to accommodate a time which suits you. I am very patient and good at explaining areas of difficulty in a simplistic manner. Feel free to message me or arrange a 'meet-the-tutor' session to ask any further questions.

I liked the style of teaching and there was good communication. I really liked it because what would have taken me many lessons to learn in school only took me one and I know have a better understanding then I did before.

We have been delighted by Helen's professional LNAT tuition for my son, she set challenging exercises and prepared well for each tuition session enabling them to cover a lot of ground over the months. We don't yet know the outcome of the LNAT exam but we do know that he has been offered a place at his first choice of University.
