Hello, I am currently a undergraduate studying biochemistry at the University of Edinburgh. Having always been interested in science, my interest for biochemistry sparked when I realise life in all its complex forms are all made of a handful of simple elements. My desire to understand how such a phenomenon can occur led me to where I am today Having been taught by some of the most fantastic teachers, I hope to use their style of teaching of not just learning the subject but instead understand the fundamentals to help my students. My teachers not only taught me well, they also helped me to bring out my passion for biochemistry which led to me enjoy my subject further and doing better in exams. I hope to do the same with my students, help to learn and enjoy the subjects at the same time. For me personally, exams were never enjoyable but what made it a lot easier were my teachers and tutors. I now wish to do the same with anyone I tutor. Help them to get excellent grades and to find out what they are passionate about to carry on to further education
For biology and Chemistry, I would spend majority of the session explaing a concept and mechanism and the last 10 minutes or so recapping with some questions. I will then give some optional homework. If they do not struggle, it shows the students have a relatively good grasp on the concept and I can move on to the next one. If they do then I could answer their questions in the next session. With Maths, I will spend less time explaining a topic and more time working through questions with them...
