A bit about me: Hey! I'm Ash and I've just graduated from Durham University with a Master's in Chemistry. I am able to help students with any GCSE Science/Maths but in particular AS/A Level Chemistry.
As I only completed my A Levels very recently, I am still very much aware of the knowledge and skill base required to really do well in these exams. I also feel that this gives me the advantage of being able to communicate with you on a much better level as doing Chemistry with someone of similar age is a lot less mentally challenging than sitting down with a teacher to try and overcome problems. AS/A Level Chemistry can be very tricky and the exam questions can often mislead students into writing about the wrong things. Reading a question and recognising exactly what the examiner is after is a key skill in achieving a top grade in A Level Chemistry so if this is something you struggle with then please get in touch.
I tutored younger pupils whilst I was at school in GCSE Science and thoroughly enjoyed it. I appreciate that sitting in front of a whiteboard and copying down endless notes is not how most people learn best. The responses I had from students was exactly this. Little tips and tricks to remember difficult concepts in a simple way are the secret to success.
As a tutor, my sessions will be tailored to what you want to learn. I hope to provide an environment that is much better than a normal classroom, which will be personal to you and allow you to understand topics in a more efficient way. It may just be certain topics of the syllabus that you are unsure about, even the whole syllabus, or just exam technique. If you contact me prior to any session telling me what you would like to focus on, I will prepare the session accordingly and ensure any issues you have can be discussed and overcome. Rest assured, we will work together to ensure you reach your potential.
My A Levels: (Exam Boards) (All GCSE's were WJEC)
Chemistry (WJEC), Physics (WJEC), Biology (WJEC) and Maths (Edexcel).
I would also like to say don't be put off if you do a different exam board, e.g. OCR, AQA or Edexcel. I have looked through a lot of the past papers for all of these boards (AS and A2) and have no problem tutoring you if this is the case. If I did not encounter some of your topics during WJEC chemistry, I have almost certainly covered them during my four years at university. If you are interested, and would like to meet me prior to organising any tutoring, please feel free to book a 15 minute 'meet the tutor' session which will allow me to answer any questions you might have.
Thanks for listening and I look forward to hearing from you,
