About me

Hi, I'm Aurelia! I am currently a fourth year student at University College London, studying law with French law. Studying law has proven to be quite challenging but it is incredibly fulfilling and interesting, and well worth the effort! My three ongoing years as a law student have allowed me to perfect my studying techniques as well as essential exam-taking skills.

I've always loved writing - short stories, articles, mini novels - English and French literature were my favourite subjects in high-school. I don't get to do much non-legal reading at university anymore so I'd be more than happy to revive and share my love for languages and literature in a fun and engaging way!

I also mentor first year students by holding weekly sessions, during which I help them navigate life as university student - note taking, independent work, revision tips... Being a mentor has greatly helped my communication skills as well as my adaptability. Each student has different needs and different aspirations, and I really enjoy finding the best way to accommodate each of them.

About my sessions

My overall aim is to provide an encouraging and positive environment in which I deliver less rigid and more informal lessons than a typical school one.

I like to start by assessing which style of learning and level of guidance works best for each student. I find that students learn more efficiently and in a more enjoyable when they play a big role in determining what the lesson will be about. I ask them to pick something they're interested in or a topic they find tricky...

I like to start by assessing which style of learning and level of guidance works best for each student. I find that students learn more efficiently and in a more enjoyable when they play a big role in determining what the lesson will be about. I ask them to pick something they're interested in or a topic they find tricky to approach and structure my lessons around it. But I do try to get students out of their comfort zones from time to time, sometimes just a bit of encouragement is all that's needed to get that satisfying "Now I get it!" moment!

I also like to make sure that students find the studying and revision techniques that work best for them, especially when studying for GSCEs and A Levels. Learning is more of a process than just getting a right answer, particularly with subjects like French, English Language or English Literature, or getting ready for the LNAT. I will happily share what worked and still works best for me but will easily adapt to each student's preferences. My goal is not only to help with a specific subject or topic, but to boost students' confidence and share skills that will hopefully help every student in all their future studies!
