Experience: I have previously tutored 3 students at my school for a few weeks before their lower-teir GCSE exams. They all got the C grade they were looking for.
I always found I understood maths, however at a younger age I never got the grades I should have done due to a lack of confidence. I truly believe that once you are confident enough to feel you can participate in lessons you will get much more out of your time, and hopefully the grades you want.
I am also a firm believer in understanding the key ideas and methods behind the maths you are doing, rather than blindly learning how to find a solution to each individual problem you are asked. On top of minimising how much you have to remember, this will mean you can apply your understanding to different problems, and will give you good preparation for higher level courses.
