About me

I am a first-year physics student at the University College of London. I cannot tell what makes me stand out but I believe that what makes me the perfect tutor is my experience with children.

For three years, I have been a volunteer at an association in my town that worked with both children from a placement home and from a disability centre. During this time, I learned how to approach each child individually, as they are all unique. I learned how to be patient and explain something concise yet with all the important details.

What I found most appealing about the subject I study, was the fact that in physics nothing can be assumed, it is a process of trial and error. The study of matter, energy, and the interaction between them is continuously being researched, looking for certainties in a world of possibilities. It allows continuous development in a range of fields. However, I consider that to understand physics you must have the proper mathematical base. Mathematics provides the foundation not only for physics but for many other subjects (business, computer science).

I would help my students improve by teaching them how to learn. I believe it is more important to make them understand the concepts of problem-solving and how to break down a harder problem in small, easy to solve ones. This will help them not only for the GCSE but also for their further studies.

About my sessions

I would start my first session with a short test for knowing the student's level, knowing what we will need to take more time on.

In short, I would focus on a certain topic per session and practice questions until I believe the topic is fully mastered.

At the beginning of the lesson, I will explain a topic in detail with the aid of example questions which we will solve together. The way I will prepare for the session is by gathering a set of questions from GCSE past exams or practice books. These will help me test the understanding of the student on a certain topic. In the end, we will do a short recap of what we have done.

After a few sessions, I will give the student another test with similar problems to the ones we did to see whether he/she had understood what we discussed.
