About me

I am a second year Pharmacy student at University College London. I am really passionate about my field of study as I have always been curious about medicines and their mode of action within the body and how the body can protect against the damage that they could potentially entail. I am really passionate about my field of study as I have always been curious about medicines and their mode of action within the body and how the body can protect against the damage that they could potentially entail. I have undertaken various activities related to my course, such as, a hospital placement in Sri Lanka: this gave me an insight into the lives of different health care professionals. IB helped me become a well-rounded student as one of the factors required to pass was volunteering. I taught Biology, which helped me cultivate my love for teaching and to understand what 'engaging' teaching looks like. Studying ‘smart’ and being efficient is essential. Hence, I believe that each student must find a revision technique that suits them best. Every student is different; some of us are visual learners, so graphic elements are best when it comes to understanding, whilst some of us are auditory learners where understanding is optimised when listening. I help students improve by delivering concise and engaging lessons to captivate their attention. Moreover, I apply variations to my teaching style to tailor the student’s needs. I use diagrams to illustrate complex processes in order to optimise understanding and provide students with easy ways to remember challenging concepts; I am good at linking what is learned to every-day life.

About my sessions

My online lessons will be structured in a way that the student gets a chance to engage with the topic first and then he/she will be given insights on the content. To make sure that a better understanding of the content is achieved, I will make diagrams to illustrate the most important points to remember. I will then give some examples so that will make it easier for the students to remember what has been taught.

Afterwards, I will go through some past papers as this will help the student further. Before ending the session, I will also ask some questions to make sure that the student has fully understood what he/she has been taught and I will also give feedback on how to improve their answers.

Moreover, I will give them a score at the end of every session based on their understanding of the topic and time management when it comes to answering past paper questions; I will be able to measure their progress by doing so.
