At A Level i studied four subjects; History, Politics, English Literature and Geography and achieved the grades A*AAA respectively.

I have experience with the Oxbridge application system and UCAS personal statements more widely, having volunteered for the Access to Education group at my school and university.

I have a real passion for learning and teaching. having tutored throughout my time at secondary school, and taken part in several subject specific access events at university. I believe that motivation and enjoyment are key to learning and succeeding, and therefore will endeavour to achieve both these things during my lessons, as well as sharing my enthusiasm for the subjects i am tutoring.

About my sessions

I would start with brushing up on the topics that the particular student was interested in/struggling with to ensure that my knowledge is as up to date and as accurate as possible. I would ensure that i am up to date and well versed in the examination rubric and mark schemes, to ensure that students are not just knowledgeable in the subject area, but can translate this to real improvement in grades.

In regards to structure and deliver, i believe every student is different, and thus my approach to each lesson will be very much guided by what i am told works best for the individual student. I have a range of learning and revision techniques that i found particularly useful from my time at school and university however, that i feel i can implement and help students with.

I think students are more motivated to learn when they feel they are making progress and not wasting their time. Therefore, encouragement and positivity is a necessity, as well as frequent reminders of what progress has already been made and how far students have come from where they initially started.
