About me

I am a second-year business student at the University of Exeter, however I also spent a year at Aberdeen University studying management as well. Business and Management interests me because of how broad it is. With this degree, I am able to learn more about topics that I am very passionate about, such as human behaviour, ethics, CSR, and wellbeing, while also exploring other areas of organisations that are very new to me. Business and Management interests me because of how broad it is. With this degree, I am able to learn more about topics that I am very passionate about, such as human behaviour, ethics, CSR, and wellbeing, while also exploring other areas of organisations that are very new to me. Additionally, I take both Advanced French and German classes to continue to consolidate and maintain my skills in the languages as I have studied these languages for more than 10 years.

While at university I have had the opportunity to try out new hobbies and experience new interests that I was not able to in high school. For example, I am currently learning to play squash ( although it is proving to be a hard sport to learn), but I also spend a lot of time focusing on my wellbeing by going to the gym or spending time with my friends to find a good balance between university work and my personal life.

As I am also a student and have experienced many of the same things as other students, I aim to encourage and support them on their academic journey and help them achieve high marks in their subject areas by focusing on their needs. I aim to also create a safe learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and being honest about needing help or further guidance in their subjects.

About my sessions

At first, my tutoring sessions will focus on interactive activities to help me better understand and get an idea of the areas where students need help and where they are already excelling. This will then help me better plan my sessions according to what the students learning needs are. I aim to focus on one topic per session to give more detailed and in-depth knowledge in the subject area, as well as leave time at the end for students to ask questions where they need further clarification. If this learning style is not appropriate for the students’ needs, I will change my sessions accordingly.

When studying for exams as a student in secondary school, I found it best to make outlines and summaries for exams that were essay based. This helped me get a better idea of the key points and theories that underlined each topic covered throughout the course. For numerical exams, I found it best to practice past exam papers to be more comfortable with the structure and formatting of the exam. Both of these techniques have helped me achieve high marks, therefore, I am happy to help students with exam revision and teach them some of these learning techniques so that they can be better prepared for their exams.
