I am currently studying Maths and Philosophy at Durham University. I am now in my fourth (masters) year and have achieved a first in all three prior years, with a maths average of 85% over these three years.
I am offering maths and further maths at A Level, and maths at GCSE, having achieved A* in all of these. I scored 199/200 UMS at GCSE, and achieved 100% in eight of my maths and further maths A level modules. I also gained an A in economics, and government and politics, averaging 95% and 94% respectively in these (rounded to the nearest percent).
I have tutored previously and have helped family and friends with both GCSE and A level maths/further maths. I will be familiar with the content as I am currently studying maths and have recently tutored AS and A level. For tutorials, I will make sure I am familiar with your specific exam board, and questions beyond this can of course be pursued in a tutorial too. In terms of time I am flexible, so please contact me with your ideal times and hopefully we can sort something out that suits us both!
About my sessions
I will always make sure I am familiar with the specific modules and exam board relevant to the student. In preparation, I usually ask the student about topics which they wish to cover and then try to find specific questions relevant to this to go over in tutorials. This helps to identify strengths and weaknesses, and gives a good idea as to what type of thing would be good to cover in the future. If the student is unsure of what they want to do, then we will go over a few questions to help to identify key areas to look at.
It is important for the student to enjoy what they are doing and to be actively involved in tackling questions - this is certainly the best way to learn maths! Over time, multiple questions from similar topics will be attempted, because this is the best way to cement understanding, and is also a good measure of progress.
The key thing is of course to make my tutorials enjoyable for each student and to encourage learning as much as possible!
