My name is Rob and I'm a third year History student at the University of Glasgow.
After studying for six Highers and two Advanced Highers, I know how demanding and sometimes stressful those two years can be. My knowledge of the system, and how to succeed in it, means that I know how to help the students get the grades that they want and need.
Not only that, but education and the tutoring of others has always been very important to me. During my last year of school I was asked to assist the Humanities department by tutoring pupils in the year below. Following this, during my gap year, I extended my experience working as a teacher for a class of seventeen students for Higher History, most of whom got accepted into the universities of their choice.
These two years of experience have allowed me to develop my tutoring skills, the most important of which are the understanding of what is needed for the exam and what the student needs. I have helped many different students, some who needed a helping hand, some who needed more, some who only needed constructive criticism on their essays. Therefore, with this experience I feel confindent that I can provide a personalised tutoring experience that works for the student.
And of course, I wish to tutor History because it is my passion, ever since I was a young child. I believe this will help me motivate the student into loving History, perhaps as much as I do. In my degree, I am specialising in Early Modern Military history; but I have also studied topics such as American Civil War, Germany in the 20th Century and Britain and Russia in the Early Modern period. As well, I can tutor in other areas that the pupil is studying. Also, I can provide tutoring in essay writing and exam preparation, which, as a Humanities student, I have spent the last six years perfecting.
Due to the small number of contact hours, I am very available. I can tutor all day on the weekends, and most evenigs as well as some afternoons during the week. I am sure we can sort out a time that works for both easily.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
