About me

Hi, I'm an experienced and positive student tutor with a passion for helping others reach their potential, no matter whether they're a high flyer aiming for the highest grades or need a little more help and confidence building to get them back on track.

Studying Economics at University has meant that I've develop my mathematical and techniques but also the ability to interpret, understand and be able to explain what this means. This is an invaluable skill for tutoring as not only can I help from a mathematical perspective, but be able to communicate this effectively and also in an engaging way so that students can enjoy their tutoring sessions. Furthermore, the links between Economics, Business and History are linked coherently into my degree. I have studied a whole range of particular periods of history from 1500 to present day but also well informed on current issues and developments in order to help with case study analysis too.

I have previous teaching experience from helping out at local schools and I have also tutored a number of students successfully in the past with much success. Also, by teaching the subjects I always loved learning more about, I believe this will come across by providing informative, interesting and useful sessions!

About my sessions

I will adapt my sessions to fit the specific needs of each student - we all learn differently and therefore it's vital that firstly time is spent understanding the best way for the student to learn and adapting the sessions to fit around this.

From the first lesson, we'll create a plan and I'll gauge what topics they're strong at and where the areas for improvement are - I also often believe it's useful to set a past paper to do over the first week in between tutoring lessons so that we can go through the questions they've struggled on together in the following week.

After that, we'll create measurable targets more medium term. This way we can make sure the student is learning from the session and is well on track to reach that end goal. In the case that these we fail to achieve these targets, I will work fearlessly to make sure we can find a solution.

One thing I will make sure to promote in my sessions is independent learning and I will make sure to point the student in the right direction for available resources to supplement their learning. This way, I can offer support for their questions and hopefully make the lessons much more efficient.

Finally, I will aim to make the sessions as engaging and interactive as possilbe. All the subjects I am willing to tutor I have a strong passion for and I wish to pass this enthuasism on!

Find the value of x when x^2-x-6=0

We firstly need to look how to factorise quadratics.  (x        )(x        ) By looking at this, we need 2 numbers that add together to make -1. We need 2 numbers that multiply to make -6.  To multiply to make -6, we need at least one of these brackets to be negative: (x -    )(x +      ) Combinations of -6 include: -1 x 6, -6 x 1, -2 x 3, -3, x 2 By looking at these, and that we need to make -1, our numbers must be -3 and 2! Therefore: (x - 3)(x + 2) =0 x-3=0, x= 3 x+2=0, x= -2 We firstly need to look how to factorise quadratics.  (x        )(x        ) By looking at this, we need 2 numbers that add together to make -1. Following Teresa May's Brexit speech, the UK exchange rate in terms of euros depreciated from 1.13 to 1.08. If a firm sells 20000 units at 4 euros per unit, what is the difference in the firms revenue following the change in the exchange rate?

Total sales abroad: 20000 x 4 euros = 80000 euros Pound amount = Euro amount x ER Before ER change: 80000 x1.13 =90400 pounds After ER change: 80000 x 1.08= 86400 pounds 864-904 = -4000 pounds Therefore, revenues abroad have decreased by £4000 because of the depreciation in the ER! **You could also simply look at the depreciation of 0.05 x 80000 (total revenue) = £4000 for a quicker method!
