About me

Hi! I'm Chloe, a first year medical student at the University of Exeter! I am DBS checked!! In my free time I am a member of the First Aid Society and the Expedition Society, and I am hoping to join the choir we have. I also love listening to music and chilling with Netflix too- it's about getting a good work-life balance otherwise we will never be able to cope and learn to our full potential!

I have experience tutoring people as during GCSEs and A levels I would help classmates out with learning hard content as I could pick things up quicker, and I like to be useful. A levels and GCSEs were a fun time for me (well, at GCSEs the subjects I picked were fun at least!) and I was very successful in my exams because of my "marathon learning" technique where you learn little and often instead of cram. I was the top student at my 6th form with the highest A level results in 2019, and was Biology student of the year due to my passion for the subject. But I am not just a scientist, I love to be imaginative and creative and so English lessons were one of my favourites-- I felt like it was more of a hobby than an A level when I was doing it (apart from the timed essays and exams, of course).

About my sessions

I am an auditory and visual learner myself so I have used a variety of methods to help learn in the past, from making my own revision PowerPoints and mind maps, to flashcards and interactive timelines. I do not do things in a set systematic way as I feel that the moment and the topic, and more importantly the student, should guide how a certain area is addressed. Rest assured, I have tried most revision tips and techniques for learning and memory, and will be able to find something that will...

I do not do things in a set systematic way as I feel that the moment and the topic, and more importantly the student, should guide how a certain area is addressed. Rest assured, I have tried most revision tips and techniques for learning and memory, and will be able to find something that will not feel like such a chore and difficult way of learning once we get stuck into it!

I find that the best way to learn is to talk to someone and question things, which is why I think this tutoring idea is fantastic as it allows every single way of learning to be targeted in one! Learning is more fun and more successful if you can be socially stimulated while you focus on the task at hand.

My son sent her his curriculum and told her the 3 topics he wanted to learn. In the following lesson she chose completely different topics and mixed up topics that weren't even in the curriculum sheet, one of the topics that my son picked she decided to say that she wanted to do it in another lesson without notice in the chatbox.

Chloe's reply

Hi there! I apologise for any confusion! The topics you asked for were stoichiometry, bonding and acids/bases. We did not have time to cover acids and bases as there is a lot of information on stoichiometry, looking at the ratios of moles in an equation and working out the molecular formula of different substances, such as the fact that oxygen is diatomic. I should have mentioned this at the beginning of the lesson. We did not have time to go through all the questions I had planned but I have sent you the additional worksheets and the powerpoint that I used with questions from past papers.
