About me

I'm currently in my fourth year of medicine at UCL and hugely enjoying finally putting my years of study of science - particularly biology and chemistry - into practice. I'm excited to use my own passion for these subjects to inspire students at whatever level they're learning and help sort out any areas which are particularly confusing for them.

As someone who has had to take exams all the way from GCSE to university entrance right up to BSc level, I appreciate how potentially stressful and challenging preparing for exams can be, and have techniques I've gained over the years which I'm sure will be useful to my students. Also, as someone from a state school background, I understand that schools often don't have the time or resources to support all aspects of a student's learning - particularly for those who are at both extremes of achievement. Therefore I will leave time at the start of my sessions to check whether students have been particularly interested in or confused by any subject content since we last met and focus on ironing out these areas so they can fully explore topic.

In my spare time I like to paint and swim and know that academia, while very important, is only a small section of student's lives. My main aim for our sessions is that I am an approachable, friendly face with whom students enjoy learning about science and can come to with any questions they have.

About my sessions

I’ll structure my lessons primarily around the student's own goals, as well as any particular issues that have come up between our meetings - for example topics they're finding harder than others or questions they've had about the subject this week.

After a brief initial chat about these points I will plan a mixture of activities - short tutorials I have prepared about relevant content; exam and revision technique tips; working through exam questions together or using materi...

After a brief initial chat about these points I will plan a mixture of activities - short tutorials I have prepared about relevant content; exam and revision technique tips; working through exam questions together or using materials online or resources that I found helpful when taking my GCSE's/A Levels.

At the end of each session I will give students small tasks to complete in preparation for the next session to help ground them in a new topic or test the knowledge they have gained.
