About me

I chose to study Economics at university because I find the theory fascinating and unexpectedly applicable to everyday life. I'm in my final year now, so mostly I'm found in the library, consumed by my dissertation. In my spare time though, I love playing badminton and making ‘Desert Fridays’ with my flatmates.

At school, I excelled at Maths. The combination of an early grounding and continued extra 'home homework' meant I always found maths both fun and relatively easy....

I'm in my final year now, so mostly I'm found in the library, consumed by my dissertation. In my spare time though, I love playing badminton and making ‘Desert Fridays’ with my flatmates.

At school, I excelled at Maths. The combination of an early grounding and continued extra 'home homework' meant I always found maths both fun and relatively easy. I competed in UKMT maths challenges at both intermediate and senior levels, obtaining gold in both- this put me in the top 10% nationally of all who took part. I worked harder at this subject than any other. It was also my favourite and best subject, which was probably not a coincidence.

I am a better Economist because of my strong grounding in mathematics. Maths is the subject that teaches fundamental problem solving, essential for further study of all university subjects, but especially for the sciences. With well explained practised examples and a smart tailored learning approach, I aim to give you the toolkit to solve any maths problem on your paper... and equally important, the confidence to do so.

About my sessions

My teaching approach will depend on you. I want to deliver lessons that will be most beneficial to you. My teaching approach will depend on you. I want to deliver lessons that will be most beneficial to you. I have previous experience privately tutoring Chinese, so I am practiced at tailoring my approach to suit you. In our initial meet and greet session, we can find the format you’d prefer- whether it be practicing exam questions, or more general explanations/examples-based lessons. I will always be well prepared, however you prefer to learn. Of course, our lessons are also flexible, if for example, you prefer to purely practice past papers closer to exam date.

In my past experience of sitting exams, I’ve found that the best learning technique was practice. Moreover, practicing what I wanted to practice least. You will perform better and be less nervous if you can walk into the exam, knowing you can answer every single question on the paper.

I will help you improve your maths by putting the focus on you. I would always prefer to give you the opportunity to ask the questions, make the mistakes, and find the solutions. I’m here to help you learn and understand the process, rather than simply tell you the answer. Finally, we will set clear, achievable and measurable goals so that you are confident in your plan leading up to the exam. We should establish the time scale and nature of our goal. I can help you revise everything in short space of time, or certain areas in great detail, and anything in between.
