About me

Hi! My name is Elizabeth and I'm a third year medical student currently studying in Manchester, but I completed the first three years of my degree in St Andrews, achieving a bachelors in medicine. I love the combination of communication skills and critical thinking that my course requires as well as the scientific aspect that it brings.

I enjoy doing plenty of exercise to unwind from studying. I cycle with the university cycling club, going on rides at the weekend which is a great way to get out of the city, especially for a country girl like me! I also play team sports such as basketball which I used to play at a university level but now play socially since starting the clinical years of my degree. I am also involved in the wilderness medicine society; which merges pre-hospital medicine with extreme environments.

I followed the usual route of GCSEs, A levels and then applied to university. I experienced some difficulty with the application process to medicine because I did not know anybody else who had completed the process and so had limited advice. I did not succeed with my first application but reapplied the following year and had multiple offers. I would love to help people who are in a similar position that I was in so that they can have a successful application to medical school.

About my sessions

I would love to help you progress academically through sessions which are tailored to you. Our first session will involve having a conversation to discuss what you want to achieve. We will discuss long term goals and short term milestones so that you can measure your progression throughout.

A normal session will involve a brief recap of the work from the previous session before moving on to new material. The session will be student led and I would love for you to bring any school work or homework that you have experienced difficulty with so that we can work through it together. When I am studying, I find that I learn best through my mistakes. A great way to do this is through practicing past exam questions. We will work through the questions together, making sure to take the time to fully comprehend anything that you do not understand. The session will conclude with a discussion on what you would like to cover next, so that all of our time spent together in the next session is productive.
