About me

Hello! I have just completed my MChem (Master of Chemistry) at the University of Oxford. I have absolutely loved studying Chemistry as it is so diverse and has a role in everything from the Lithium ion batteries which power our phones to the manipulation of enzymes for drug development. I can't wait to share my passion for learning with you and be there alongside you on your journey through education. I am happy to help with anything from electron counting to thermodynamics and everything...

I have absolutely loved studying Chemistry as it is so diverse and has a role in everything from the Lithium ion batteries which power our phones to the manipulation of enzymes for drug development. I can't wait to share my passion for learning with you and be there alongside you on your journey through education. I am happy to help with anything from electron counting to thermodynamics and everything in between!

Since 2017, I have provided support for 9 students during their Oxbridge application process. I enjoy having an in depth chat with my students to determine the specific areas of Chemistry they are interested in and from this I recommend a reading list which forms the foundation of a brilliant personal statement. Following this I offer personal statement editing and TSA (Thinking Skills Assessment - a test required to be sat by those applying to study Chemistry at Oxford) support. Finally, I provide mock interviews to help reduce the nerves of my students and to debunk any myths about the Oxford interview process.

About my sessions

Firstly we will have a free meeting to get to know each other a little better, assess which parts of the curriculum you would like to focus on and formulate a lesson plan accordingly. I believe the most effective way to prepare for GCSE and A-Level exams is to break the course down into its core topics, then learn the material and practice as many past paper questions for said topics as possible.

I try to include real life applications of the scientific theories I teach in my lessons to keep them interesting and help my students learn the material. For instance, when teaching acid and base theory, I refer to the use of bicarbonate of soda to neutralise and treat bee stings which are acidic.

I give feedback at the end of each lesson and I am available to message between any session.

All students learn differently therefore I aim to adapt my teaching technique to each individual student. To track the progress of my students I set regular tests, the results of which are documented in an excel spreadsheet. This way at the end of the course it will be clear which areas of the curriculum need to be revisited and focused on.
