About me

Hi! I’m Nicola, a third-year Law student at University College London.

Law is a fascinating subject, primarily in my eyes because it is such an integral part of civilisation, permeating every aspect of our everyday lives.

Studying history and French to A-level has helped when it comes to looking at the political, moral and philosophical elements of the subject, but it is also true that law demands a logical approach; thinking like a mathematician as I did at A-level has been so useful in tackling the ‘problem’ type questions we are required to answer.

I am equally interested in both types of subject, and I would love to pass on the knowledge I have gained from my time at school and subsequently at university. I can also help out with writing personal statements and preparing for the LNAT, having had first-hand experience of both while applying to university.

I have tutored piano for 4 years, and continue to do so on a weekly basis. Music is my main hobby – I play piano, clarinet, saxophone and guitar – so it has been no surprise that I’ve really enjoyed teaching others about it. Inspiring others to also have a passion for playing instruments, and music as a subject, has always been my aim, and it has been an extremely rewarding experience; I aim to also make this true for my tutorials.

About my sessions

Our lessons will largely be guided by what you want to cover, whether that be learning something new or revising what you have already been taught. I will always try to be as creative as possible when teaching, ensuring that I use a wide range of visual aids, such as diagrams, tables, drawings and mind-maps, in addition to imaginative ways of learning and remembering difficult ideas, for example, analogies, anecdotes, and mnemonics. Of course, I will adapt my teaching style to suit what works...
