About me

I am a third year Mathematician at the University of Bath, tutoring first year students, and have achieved an average of 80% in modules that count towards my final grade. I am passionate about mathematics, love problem solving, and believe that it has such strength because of the huge variety of disciplines which are contained within it: Engineering, Physics, Statistics, and much more.

Over the summer I was given the opportunity to take part in a research project with senior lecturers at the University! I would mainly write code and read papers, making individual progress towards learning. However, near the end I was able to write a small paper on the topic, this was very exciting!

I am confident in my abilities, having been part of competitions which have made me value studying and further realise the importance of learning.

This led to me study 5 A-levels while at sixth form, of which Further Mathematics I studied during my free periods with guidance from my Maths teacher, without whom I doubt I would have been nearly as confident in the subject. Simultaneously, I was also part of the peer mentoring system, for which I sat next to a student during some of his classes and helped with both his work, and attitude. Both things made me realise how important it is for a student to have someone next to them to help them understand a subject, and just how much of a difference one to one tutoring can make.

About my sessions

The aim of each session will be to ensure that my tutee has understood what they are supposed to do when they see a similar question appear on an exam. I will strive to make my sessions as interactive as possible, by asking relevant questions regarding the topic. Outside of the classroom I am happy to set questions for homework, and mark them in my own time!

I hope my sessions will be useful, and that they help students find what they are passionate about.
