Hi, my name is Matthew, I'm currently a PhD student in physics at Oxford, specialising in climate physics. My aims as a tutor are to help students enjoy learning, to develop their understanding and to help them become more confident in handling problems through the use of examples. From my own experience, I understand the pressures of exams and will do my best to help students achieve the grades they want.
At school I achieved A*s in all ten of my GCSEs and attained the top mark in CCEA Additional Mathematics. In the past I have tutored classmates and family members on an informal basis. I have gained an insight into which topics pupils find difficult in physics through interviews I conducted at a local secondary school as part of my university course.
Before each tutorial session I endeavour to prepare thoroughly and feel I can offer insight on exam and learning techniques. I am enthusiastic about my subject as well as friendly and patient.
About my sessions
A few days before each session I'll send a few homework questions as a basis for the tutorial. We could then work through these together. I'll particularly try to make sure that we look at exam style questions so that the student learns how to go about answering these.
