About me

Hey I'm Kevin, not only am I studying Politics and English Literature at Glasgow University, but I am simultaneously studying a Philosophy degree in a Parisian uni. The reason I do so much? I love learning: and that is where my passion for teaching comes from. It will be a pleasure to share my enthusiasm for learning (whether it be in Philosophy, Literature, Politics or French). My prior experience of teaching consists of being an English teacher in France for a year. Thanks to my bilingualism I now hope to teach French to English students. Exams can be extremely stressful, and having suffered through many, I hope that my experience can help you become fearless and confident in your ability to succeed.

About my sessions

I find it very effective to always link the topics being studied with something that my students can relate to. I structure my classes so that everything that is learnt is immediately applied. My aim is to teach practical and transferable skills and foster personal growth. Teaching methods, and even lesson structure, vary greatly from one student to the next according to their needs and strengths. Sometimes a formal explanation of a topic is in order, sometimes lessons take on a more interractive spin. I can be a demanding teacher: regular work and practice is required to succeed at anything, but hard work always pays off.

Miss Parent from Stansted Lesson review 24 May, 18:00

24 May

Kevin has been an absolute inspiration to my son Olly, he has been very motivational & a fantastic tutor. I would have no hesitation in recommending him. My son never really took an interest in English Literature until he started being tutored by Kevin. Olly now wants to take English Literature as an A’ Level due to Kevin’s teaching techniques over the past few months. He’s taken tutoring Olly to another level & has gone above and beyond all expectations. Thank you Kevin for all your hardwork, Lisa (Olly’s mum)

Questions Kevin has answered

What is the difference between internalism and externalism?

In the field of epistemology internalism and externalism are the main methods by which we understand the world and acquire knowledge. Externalism, also sometimes termed inductive empiricism, is the observation of specific facts to then, by an effort of abstraction, arrive at conclusions of general validity. Internalism, often likened to rational deduction, is the use of established precepts to draw conclusions about specific cases.
