Hi, my name’s Jess and I’m going into my second year of Medicine at UCL.
Since finishing my GCSEs I have been a private tutor and thoroughly enjoy it! I have also been selected to be an academic mentor for first year medical students starting in a few weeks and believe the training I have recieved for this role will further enhance my tutoring skills. Through my experience with students of a range of abilities, I have found I am patient and able to develop different methods of helping students understand and engage with topics they have previously been struggling with. In my tutoring sessions I aim to tailor the teaching to the individual needs of the student and will be covering subjects I have a particular enthusiasm for including Biology, Chemistry and Maths.
Regarding examining boards I did OCR gateway Biology and Chemistry GCSEs and AQA maths. For A level I did OCR salters Chemistry, WJEC Biology and Edexcel Maths.
For any budding medics I am very keen to help with Medical School Applications as I have only recently been through the process and completely understand how helpful it is to talk to someone who knows exactly how the process works! I can give advice and assistance on writing a successful personal statement through to interview techniques. I had interviews at Cardiff, Oxford and UCL so am familiar with the different types of interview and believe that being well prepared is key to being a confident candidate!
Availability : most evenings after 6pm and weekends.
