About me

Hello! My name is Niranjan and I am a first year medical student at King's College London. I have always had an interest in STEM subjects, particularly biology, chemistry and maths. It was my fascination with human biology in conjunction with my desire to help people that lead me to choose medicine as a career path. It was my fascination with human biology in conjunction with my desire to help people that lead me to choose medicine as a career path. My degree involves a lot of group work and discussions amongst my peers which has allowed me to develop my communication skills. Additionally, I take part in clinical workshops where I further develop said skills.

What I enjoyed in particular during exam seasons was taking time out of my day to explain concepts to my friends that they did not understand. Not only did it further their understanding but also tested my knowledge of the subject.

Something that I am proud of doing during my exam seasons was organising revision in such a way that I covered necessary content without being overwhelmed. I would like the opportunity to impart this on to other students as I recognise the importance of good scheduling of work during exams.

As part of my university life I like to play sports such as badminton with my friends to alleviate the stress of the workload. I am a member of the paediatric society, which involves me attending primary schools to talk to the students about basic concepts of health and welfare, and the importance of a good diet whilst also teaching them a little bit about the human body.

About my sessions

I will structure my lessons by starting off with set goals for each session that I communicate to the student and will go through by the end. This will leave the student feeling a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment with each session, and a positive attitude towards upcoming sessions.

I will structure my lessons by starting off with set goals for each session that I communicate to the student and will go through by the end. This will leave the student feeling a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment with each session, and a positive attitude towards upcoming sessions.

Following presentation to the student the main content of the lesson I will present some example exam questions on the lesson learning space to test their understanding and also go through with them exam technique as I am aware of the importance of it at all levels of learning. We will go through the mark scheme together after answering the questions and discuss any room for improvement.

At the end of a main section of learning, I may set some exam questions for the student to go through in their own time, and bring with them the answers to the next session where I will discuss with them what they did well and how they could improve

I will leave time at the end of each session so that the student may ask me any questions that they feel have been unanswered.

Niranjan has been tutoring my son for only a few weeks but I have already noticed my son becoming more and more confident. He says he loves the way Niranjan explains the work to him. Thank you so much Nirranjan.
