Hello!

I am an Italian-born student at Cambridge University, where I have completed my undergraduate studies and an MPhil in Medical Science, specialising in Psychiatry. I am currently enrolled in a PhD in Neuroimaging and I find this field extremely fascinating as it allows me to combine and apply my academic research into clinical practice.

I have been studying in different schools throughout my academic career, first in Italy and then in an international school in Oxford. This experience with different educational systems has helped me to gain an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses, and I will focus on using such knowledge to help students develop good study skills, including critical analysis and exam practice. In fact, these skills have been vital in my experience of taking exams and especially for applying to university, where I believe that the best students are able to combine relevant knowledge with more original and personal insights.

In my free time I also take part in several activities, having been the expedition coordination of the Cambridge University Expeditions Society, as well as being part of the organising team of TEDx Cambridge Uni. I was also the president of the Darkroom Society at King's College (Cambridge) because of my passion for analogue photography. Whenever possible, I love travelling and learning new languages!

About my sessions

Throughout my years of experiencing different educational systems, both in Italy and in the UK, I have realised that memorising alone is not necessary nor sufficient for learning. Throughout my years of experiencing different educational systems, both in Italy and in the UK, I have realised that memorising alone is not necessary nor sufficient for learning. Therefore, I will structure my lessons in a way that pushes students to be creative while focused on the questions, thus making the learning experience engaging and more long-lasting.  Having studied some mechanisms of long-term memory during my undergraduate degree at Cambridge, I will try to apply techniques such as structured questions before learning the theory, to guide the student to focus on the important concepts. Nevertheless, I also aim to allow for some time to ask questions that might go beyond the syllabus and that can enrich one's memory trace of the concept studied, something that has help me in getting high grades during my studies.

Moreover, having been really shy myself in the past, I aim to make students as comfortable as possible so that the lessons can be interactive: not only would fuel their curiosity, but also allow me to understand specific knowledge gaps and uncertainties to work on.
