In Philosophy, I have now completed junior and honours years, focusing on formal (mathematical) logic and the metaphysics of time and mereology.

In English, I have studied areas including the development of language in children, grammar, the history of English and the development of the language.

In Classics, I have studied all areas of the subject ranging from 800BC through to the end of the Classical Period (Greece and Athens) and around 300BC through to the fall of the Empire (Rome). This study includes most all major texts, art, architecture, history, culture and religion.

Before university, I was a Senior Army Cadet Instructor, giving me years of teaching experience with students of all ages and abilities. On my Qualifying course to be able to instruct Army Cadet lessons (SCIC), I finished top of my class and went on to instruct and teach for another 2 years. Further, I have worked at my university as a Logic Tutor, providing classes for undergraduate students in order to prepare then for coursework and final exams.

About my sessions

Using what I learned over the years that I taught as a senior army cadet instructor, I will structure my sessions first by addressing any questions that the student has and then go on to cover a topic chosen by the student or parent by:

1) Explanation - Going over the details of what is being covered that session, making sure that it is fully understood/clarified.

2) Demonstration - Showing how to apply the skills required and how...

2) Demonstration - Showing how to apply the skills required and how to go about answering a question on what is being covered; what the student will be expected to cover in an answer and/or the structure of the answer.

3) Student participation - Asking the student to work through some questions with me on their own (dependent on how confident they are and their learning style)

4) Practice by the student - Asking the student to work through some questions in a session, in their free time dependent on subject, level and ability.

I very much believe in independent thought and learning as being the key to academic success, this is something I will also try to teach the student during sessions so that they continue to learn beyond tutoring sessions.

Given my academic experience and my practical experience in teaching, I have no doubt about my abilities to help any student reach their academic goals.
