About me

I am currently studying Medicine at the University of Cambridge and I absolutely love my degree, thoroughly enjoyed my A level subjects and the GCSE options I took. I am currently studying Medicine at the University of Cambridge and I absolutely love my degree, thoroughly enjoyed my A level subjects and the GCSE options I took. I feel like a significant part of why I loved my subjects was because I had amazing teachers and was taught in a manner that suited me. I am aware that not everyone is able to find that at school and so I feel that whilst tutoring is a method of improving learning and knowledge, it can also be a way of finding enjoyment in learning and I like to promote that as a tutor to my tutees.

I achieved a 2.i in my BA at university, 4 A*s in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Psychology at A level and 12 A*/As at GCSE level. I believe that a lot of different aspects were a part of my achievements, a significant one being the teaching I received and how my teachers were willing to go above and beyond to help me get the highest grades. That is something I would like to do for my tutees to push them towards their goals.

I have had previous official and unofficial tutoring experience, all of which I received positive feedback for. I believe that my patience and understanding are part of what make me a good tutor, along with the will to help a tutee in the long term.

About my sessions

During the first meeting, I will get to know the student academically; identify their strengths and weaknesses by asking them and by assessing on my own and taking the lessons from there to improve at the necessary points.

During the first meeting, I will get to know the student academically; identify their strengths and weaknesses by asking them and by assessing on my own and taking the lessons from there to improve at the necessary points.

Preparation will be done beforehand based on the previous tutorial, taking into account what I feel the tutee needs to work on and the opinion of the tutee for what they want to work on. Preparation will include tutorial plans, areas for questions and areas for higher levels of discussion potentially. Based on what the parents or the tutee want, I also like to include "homework" which I will mark as well.

Lessons will always have a main goal and a few smaller ones within the main one (communicated at the beginning of the session) so that progress is more easily and quantitatively measured and the tutee will know that they are improving throughout the session. I think that this is very important for encouragement due to the sense of accomplishment with each goal that is achieved.

Tutoring is a way of personalising learning and can potentiate results when combined with mainstream education. I love teaching in general and guiding others to help develop their learning styles for life as opposed to just helping them with their upcoming exams. I hope that this is an approach that potential students and parents of students agree with.
