About me

Hi, I'm Tanisha and currently studying French and Philosophy at the University of Exeter.

I have been tutoring Maths and English at a Kumon centre since 2009. I also work as a private tutor for English Literature, English Language, French and Verbal Reasoning.

My main aim is to build the student's confidence in their chosen subject, and to work with them to discover methods of teaching which enable them to get the most out of the tutorials and to fulfill their potential.

With a foreign language, I believe it is important to build on all aspects of the language in order to improve: oral skills, listening, reading, writing and grammer, which is why I will encourage my students to fully immerse themselves in the language and culture by reading French news articles/novels, watching French films, and even downloading specific apps onto their phones, which is a fun and easy way to constantly be improving their language! Each tutorial will vary in style in order to cover all these aspects, although I am very flexible and also keen to work on areas which they wish to focus on, e.g. poetry or research for a specific essay topic.

Regarding English, it is important to find your own personal style of writing, and develop your own ideas, whilst paying attention to key objectives that the exam boards look for. I have experience working with poetry, plays, Shakespeare, novels, speeches and articles, and am willing to provide help with analytical techniques for each of these.

If you are interested in a tutoring session please do not hesistate to contact me :) I am free on weekends and flexible with my hours on weekdays so I am sure we can find something which works for the both of us! Looking forward to hearing from you.
