About me

I've been programming for over eight years. Here are some of the things I've done:

• Spent a year tutoring python to three young children. I helped the eldest build a space invaders replica.

• Co-founded a startup based on an app I wrote to aid physiotherapy patients. We've worked with a hospital to perform a clinical trial using said app.

• Built websites, apps, and games (see glenagon.com for more information).

• Gained experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript...

• Am currently studying Software Engineering at the University of Southampton and working with them to build an app.

I'm passionate about software. I'm not just going to teach my students how to code--I'm going to teach them how to write software. That means teaching them how to look for mistakes, how to debug their code, and how to figure out how to fix the problem on their own. Students will leave my lessons as self-sufficient programmers.

About my sessions

I've always found that it's easier to learn programming if the student is excited about the project they're working on. To do this, I ask them which direction they'd like to take the project, and I'll incorporate the lesson plan into their vision, rather than the other way around. Writing software is about making mistakes and learning from them. I like to take the approach that allows students to fail, and then I'll teach them how to find out what's wrong and how t...

Writing software is about making mistakes and learning from them. I like to take the approach that allows students to fail, and then I'll teach them how to find out what's wrong and how to figure out how to fix it. I want students to leave my lessons with the ability to write and debug their own programs without anyone else's help.
