Degree: MA Cognitive Science (Humanities) (Bachelors) - Edinburgh University
I’m a Cognitive Science (Humanities) 2nd year undergraduate at the University of Edinburgh. Studying a very broad and quite theoretical degree (I do Philosophy, Psychology, Linguistics and Informatics), I have learnt how to explain difficult ideas in a simple way and address them from different perspectives.
I am very passionate about learning and instilling interest in others. I also have a lot of experience with children and teenagers as I have worked as both a babysitter and a tutor before.
In humanities subjects, understanding of the basic ideas is extremely important. Therefore, I will try and make sure that you understand the topics that we cover and are able to paraphrase and explain the most important ideas. Having done that, we will move to essay writing. I will explain how to structure your essay, construct your arguments and make it clear so that you and the marker will be happy with it!
I encourage students to form and defend their own opinions. In humanities there is no right or wrong answer, everything is about a good argument! So hopefully by the end of our sessions you will see how much can be learnt by only discussing and how exciting and interesting it can be!
Having applied and got into university, an internship and various exchange programmes, I have quite a good idea about how you should present yourself in a desirable way. I also understand that sometimes it is hard to ‘sell’ yourself, so I will help you think about your activities in school as well as elsewhere and therefore try to help you find your best qualities that would help you get into your dream university!
Looking forward to see you soon!
